Chloride profiles - 10 years
Chloride profiles measured on
drilled cores from the concrete blocks placed at the Fehmarn Belt
exposure site are presented below. The profiles were measured after
approximately 10 years of exposure to the marine environment, and
for all of the investigated blocks, two cores were drilled, i.e.,
one from below sea level and one from the splash zone. Profiles
were determined for the concretes with the following IDs: A, B, C,
E, F, G, H, I, K, L, N, and O.
For the blocks produced with
concrete G, H, I, L, and N, profiles were measured from the west
(W) facing side of each core, and for the remaining investigated
blocks profiles were measured from both the west (W) and east (E)
facing side of each core.
The chloride profiles were obtained
according to the method described in DS 423.28:1984
Testing of concrete - Hardened concrete - Chloride
content using potentiometric titration for determination
of chloride contents.
It is noted that the data presented
in the figures below have not been corrected for variations in
aggregate packing near the concrete surface.
